Page Freshness macro shows a banner instead of redirecting Update

Section titled “Page Freshness macro shows a banner instead of redirecting ”

When the Page Freshness macro detected that a reader was viewing a non-approved version of a page, it would silently navigate the browser to the last approved version. The redirect was disorienting: readers landed on a different version than the URL they had clicked.

The macro now stays on the page the reader requested and renders an inline banner: a green “approved” pill when the current version is approved, or an amber “not approved” warning with a View approved version link when it isn’t. Clicking the link still navigates to the approved version, but only when the reader explicitly asks for it.

The macro’s per-page editor configuration was removed in the process; the banner uses the workflow’s approval state directly.
